As lovers of food, we’re all guilty of indulgence and gluttony. While this may sound like a negative thing, if you balance your life in other ways you will be able to enjoy indulging in food and drink that much more. You will deserve what you get, which always leads to increased satisfaction.
One way to do this is to improve your sustainability for the world around you. It isn’t just better for the environment, it can be better for you overall. You will be able to more gratefully indulge in your pleasures.
High-Quality & Healthy Foods
The first place to treat yourself and the environment better concurrently is in the foods you buy. This doesn’t mean that they don’t have to be tasteless. Purchase high-quality, healthy, and delicious foods for your family. Go for organic and local produce. Purchase high-end and responsibly raised meats, but cut down on consumption.
The meat industry is one of the biggest exporters of carbon dioxide, which goes into the atmosphere and warms the climate. Some people have even argued that in total the meat industry produces more greenhouse gases than transportation. If you eat less meat and buy from non-factory farms, you will be doing a good thing for the world and your own body.
Paper Products

You might be surprised at how many paper products you are using on a daily basis. Most of them are made by cutting down trees that turn climate-warming carbon dioxide into breathable oxygen. A great alternative to trees that produce a lot of oxygen is the plentiful, durable, and sustainable bamboo tree.
There are many bamboo paper products like paper towels, toilet paper, and more. Many of your typical paper products can be found in a bamboo alternative. Bamboo is reusable, durable, long-lasting, and better for both the environment and the changing climate.
Bedroom Products
While not directly related to food and drink, rest and relaxation are elements of pleasure. You don’t have to sacrifice comfort for a lower carbon footprint. Products like reusable cotton rounds can be washed and reused. Bamboo products last longer and are stronger.
This doesn’t mean they aren’t soft. Think of bamboo noodles if you’ve had them, they can be incredibly soft. You can even buy a bamboo pillow. Look into toothbrushes made of this resource to use with eco-friendly toothpaste tablets. There are brushes and other bedroom products that are both long-lasting and environmentally friendly.
Compost & Compostable Items
When it comes to food and sustainability, composting is one of the most important things you should know about. Composting is both a good way to get rid of food and a method to practice sustainability. There are also many uses for compost, a natural fertilizer being one of them. It is also a great project and way to create your own miniature ecosystem. If you have a place to garden, you will be on your way to indulging and living responsibly, lucratively, and consciously.
Kitchen Products

There are so many different kitchen products to choose from and most of them are available in an eco-friendly or efficient version of it. Go for dishwashers and dryers for instance. They are available in water and power-safety alternatives known as smart appliances. You can also buy a smart refrigerator as well as energy-saving microwaves and toasters.
It doesn’t end there, bamboo cutlery is a great alternative to plastic forks and knives. Palm-leaf plates are better than paper plates. Don’t use plastic, there is a more durable alternative that won’t just protect the environment. They will often even save you some money in the long run. This kind of thinking will help you feel better about indulging in fine food and drink.
We all need to do our part to mitigate environmental damage, but that doesn’t mean we won’t be able to enjoy ourselves in this world of the future. The more we evolve and innovate, the easier our lives will be. As we progress to a more sustainable and efficient world, humanity will be forced to be reasonable.
But as we get a hold of our excesses and interminable issues with energy, we will all do different things and live our lives in different ways. One thing is for sure. We will always enjoy food, drink, and good company to share it with.
